2016 Lexus GS F
Lexus has unveiled at the 2015 North American International Auto Show its latest F model – the GS F which will join the high-performance F lineup in 2016.
As announced ahead of the debut, the GS F is built on the GS 350 F SPORT platform and features a wide range of upgrades including engine and suspension. The upgrades are so significant that Lexus says they “re-engineer” the car and turn the GS F into “an entirely new animal to the Lexus showroom”.
At the heart of the GS F is a 5.0-L V8 engine that generates 467 horsepower and peak torque of 389 lb.-ft. with a 7,300 rpm redline. The powerful engine is paired with a “quick-acting” 8-speed AT with paddle shifters for manual-shifting capability.
Just like the GS 350 F SPORT, the GS F model offers 3 additional driving modes besides the normal mode –ECO, SPORT S and SPORT S+. ECO mode is for fuel economy, SPORT S fully exploits the capability of the powertrain and SPORT S+ takes a step further by setting up suspension, steering system, among other ready for racetrack.
According to Lexus, the custom stiff suspension that is equipped on the GS F “was honed on Japanese circuits such as Fuji Speedway and perfected on the famous Nürburgring Nordeschleife”. The suspension is teamed with 19-inch wider forged wheels and an enhanced braking system depending on 15-inch front rotors with 6-piston calipers
The styling of the GS F provides enhanced aerodynamic and internal cooling. The spindle grille adds extra aerodynamics to the car and at the same time enhances engine cooling. Distinguishing the GS F from its standard GS counterpart is easy as the GS F is outfitted with carbon fiber accents, and equipped with carbon-fiber rear spoilers and trapezoidal tailpipes with quad exhaust tips.
