2015 Acura TLX

Unveiled just 3 months ago at the New York International Auto Show, the all-new 2015 Acura TLX will arrive at dealerships in August with three distinct models and a price range from $30,995 to $44,700, excluding a $895 destination charge.

Replacing the TL, the Acura TLX is expected to
“deliver a unique and compelling blend of sports-sedan athleticism and premium luxury refinement, appealing to a broad cross-section of luxury sports-sedan customers”
All three 2015 TLX models are powered by the same engine technology – the direct-injected i-VTEC.
With a starting price of $30,995, the base model comes with an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (8DCT) with torque converter, and is powered by a 2.4-L 4-cyl engine, generating 206 horsepower. Fuel efficiency rating is 24 city/35 highway/28 combined mpg.
For about $4,000 more, at $35,220, the TLX is upgraded to a bigger 3.5-liter 24-valve V6 engine, delivering 290-horsepower.  This V6 engine is bundled with a new 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT).  Fuel efficiency for the V6 2-wheel-drive model is rated at 21 city/34 highway/25 combined mpg.
Powered by the same V6 engine, the top-of-the-line TLX with Technology Package is priced at $41,450.  It is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and has fuel efficiency rating of 21 city/31 highway/25 combined mpg.   Upgrading to the Advance Package will raise the price to $44,700. READ MORE

2014 Acura MDX

Acura MDX has had highest annual sales ranking in its class for every year since 2002.  The latest 2014 sales numbers of the Acura MDX indicate that the MDX is on the way to again become the best-selling three-row luxury SUV of 2014 in the U.S.

Through the first half of 2014,
“sales of MDX are up 68.4% compared to the same period last year to 30,664 units” – Acura said.
In addition, since the introduction of the MDX in 2000 (sold as 2001 model year), Acura has sold 692,710 units, making the MDX the most popular three-row luxury SUV of all time.   According to Acura, cumulative Sales of MDX in the U.S are expected to exceed 700,000 units within this year.
Now in its 3rd generation (unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show), the 2014 Acura MDX is all-new  and entirely redesigned.  With a lightweight, improved aerodynamic new body along with an all-new 3.5-L V-6 290 horsepower engine, the 2014 Acura MDX AWD has fuel efficiency rating of 18 city / 27 highway/ 21 combined mpg.  2014 is also the first MDX model year that is available in fuel-efficient front-wheel-drive configuration, which offers 20 city/ 28 highway/ 23 combined mpg, giving the 2014 MDX the class-leading status in fuel efficiency. 2016 Mazda2

Previewed as the Hazumi concept at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year, the all-new fourth-generation Mazda2 was unveiled and has entered production in Japan at Mazda’s Hofu Plant.  Mazda said the new Mazda2 will be rolling out of this plant to worldwide markets starting this fall.  The all-new Mazda2 should be available in the U.S. in early next year as a 2016 model.

The all-new fourth-generation Mazda2 is equipped with the full range of SKYACTIV technologies and “KODO: Soul of Motion” design as seen in other larger latest models in the Mazda lineup, the Mazda3, Mazda6 and CX-5.  In addition, the all-new Mazda2 features next-generation car connectivity system and advanced safety technology with MAZDA CONNECT and i-ACTIVSENSE respectively.
Overall, the fourth-generation Mazda2 is available with 3 types of engine, the SKYACTIV-D 1.5 diesel engine, the SKYACTIV-G 1.5 and SKYACTIV-G 1.3 gasoline engines. The new Mazda2 for Japanese market will be available with the SKYACTIV-D 1.5-liter diesel and SKYACTIV-G 1.3-liter gasoline. Based on the ongoing Mazda2’s specs, the next-generation Mazda2 for the U.S. market will likely be equipped with the SKYACTIV-G 1.5-liter gasoline engines.  More detailed specs will be available closer to the U.S. launch date. 2015 Subaru WRX STI

Subaru has published a full lap inside-the-cockpit video of the WRX STI on its record setting lap of the Isle of Man TT Course.

Driving a new 2015 Subaru WRX STI, Mark Higgins broke his own lap record of the 37-mile course with an average lap speed of 117.510 mph in 19 minutes and 15 seconds. Prior record, 115.36 mph average lap, was set in 2011 in a WRX STI 2011 model year.
Subaru has also released a video detailing the 2015 WRX STI which was driven by Higgins, which is a stock U.S.-spec WRX STI 2015 model year. Subaru said:
with the exception of an FIA-spec roll-cage, racing seat and harness, fire suppression system and modified springs and dampers to handle the sustained high speeds and changing conditions of the course. The Subaru WRX STI also featured Dunlop Direzza tires and a high decibel straight exhaust for crowd safety. The speed limiter was also removed from the car. Read More

Toyota U²

Inspired by the new trends – “do-it-yourself”, “entrepreneurship” and “love of adventure”, the Toyota Urban Utility Concept vehicle targets urban entrepreneurial drivers with “flexibility, fund and maneuverability”.

The Toyota Urban Utility Concept vehicle – or U² – features “a new open architecture” with the roof that can be retracted, the rear glass that can slide into the tailgate and the tailgate that can fold down into a ramp.
The flexibility continues into the inside where the concept offers drivers ability to customize according to individual needs with choices of interior colors and materials.  The all-around utility rail system is configurable to hold different objects.  For additional space, the front passenger seat can be folded or removed and the back seats can be folded up.
The Toyota U² concept offers a compact size as a compact car, but provides functionality of a compact truck and the roominess of a cargo van.  Along with a good fuel economy that it offers to the urban drivers, the concept provides exactly what the city drivers want, which are the excellent maneuverability, and easy loading and unloading. 2015 Subaru Outback

Subaru today announced two of its latest all-new vehicles, the 2015 Outback and the 2015 Legacy, have achieved “2014 TOP SAFETY PICK+” from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Bringing home the awards, both 2015 Outback and Legacy have helped Subaru maintain its status of being an automotive brand with the most “Top Safety Picks” vehicles.  Seven Subaru vehicles have received safety awards from IIHS – three with “TOP SAFETY PICK+” and four with “TOP SAFETY PICK”.
The 2015 Subaru Outback and Legacy got “Good” rating from IIHS in all the safety tests, including Small Overlap Front, Moderate Overlap Front, Side, Roof Strength, Head Restraints and Seats. In addition, both 2015 Outback and Legacy earned the maximum score of 6/6 for “front crash prevention”, thanks to being equipped with the new “EyeSight driving assist system”.
Both 2015 Subaru Outback and 2015 Subaru Legacy are powered by the same two engine choices, the 2.5-L 4-Cyl BOXER engine which produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque, and the bigger 3.6-L V6 BOXER engine which generates 256 horsepower and 247 lb.-ft. of torque. READ MORE

2016 Nissan GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold Edition

To honor the GT-R’s long heritage of world-class high performance, Nissan has announced the new 2016 GT-R 45th Anniversary Gold.

Built based on the GT-R Premium model, the limited gold edition features a special paint color, a special gold-tone VIN plate located inside the engine compartment and a special commemorative plaque on the interior center console. The paint color is the same “Silica Brass” color that marked the 2001 Skyline GT-R M-Spec (R34 Type).

Nissan said the 2016 GT-R Gold edition will only be offered in the United States and limited to less than 30 units.

Mitsubishi Outlander

Mitsubishi today released a couple of images teasing its 2016 face-lifted Outlander, which will make its global debut at the 2015 New York International Auto show.

Even though the 2016 Outlander will still be in its third generation, but according to Mitsubishi, the vehicle will be the first Mitsubishi vehicle to debut its new design language.
The teaser images don’t provide much detail, but Mitsubishi said that the 2016 Outlander will be refined with over 100 improvements from engineering to design aspects, resulting in a mid-seasonal face-lifted Outlander with “powerful and dynamic appearance” and “a more eloquent yet functional interior space”. 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage Specs

Mitsubishi today said its 2015 Mirage has been listed number one on the most affordable cars list by Cars.com.  The decision was based on price, destination fees, minimum feature requirements such as Bluetooth capability, USB port, power windows, etc. and predicted 5-year fuel costs.
Priced starting from $12,995, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage DE was named “the most affordable vehicle shoppers can buy” by offering required features and a projected 5-year fuel costs of $7,000.
Mitsubishi Mirage was brought back to the U.S. market last year after being discontinued in 2002.  It gets a few minor updates for 2015, but remains the same starting price.  Powered by a 1.2-L 3-cyl 74-horsepower engine, the Mitsubishi Mirage offers 44 mpg when traveling on the highway.  In addition, according to Mitsubishi, the Mirage gets
“one of the best protection plans in the entire industry: a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a fully transferable 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty and a 5-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance program.” READ MORE

2015 Toyota Yaris

2015 Toyota Yaris (5-door)

Toyota has released changes it made to the 2015 Yaris along with the prices.  Coming into 2015, the Toyota Yaris has a redesigned front fascia with a new grille that has larger opening and a horizontal chrome treatment that extends into the headlamp.
Interior, Toyota gives the 2015 Yaris a new sporty looking dashboard, softer materials throughout along with additional sound insulation.  In addition, for the first time, the Yaris can be equipped with a NAV system as “a dealer-installed option”.
The car also has a more rigid body structure, and has its suspension re-tuned for a better ride.
Under the hood of the 2015 Yaris is the same 1.5-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder DOHC engine, producing 106 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 103 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm.  The engine is coupled with a 5-Speed MT or 4-Speed AT.
With all these new updates, Toyota gives the 2015 Yaris a price increase from 2% to 3%, depending on the model grade.  Available in base L, premium LE and Sporty SE models (3-door or 5-door), the 2015 Toyota Yaris has a starting price ranging from $14,845 to $17,620, excluding the $825 delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee. 2015 Toyota Prius

Toyota today announced a special edition of the Prius, called “Persona Series”, will join the 2015 Prius lineup in September.
The Persona Special Edition is based on the Prius Three with a few exterior and interior changes that make it stand out from others in the Prius lineup.
Offered only in exclusive “Absolutely Red and “Blizzard Pear”, the Prius Persona rides on premium dark metallic finished aluminum wheels and features power heated mirrors with built-in turn signal indicators.  In addition, there is a “Persona Series” emblem on the rear, helping distinguish the model.
Changes to the inside include the use of black SofTex® fabric on the steering wheel and throughout the car, dark chrome bezel, dark chrome treatment on shift knob ring and door grips, and blue illumination in the footwells.
Excluding the $825 handling fee, with the “Absolutely Red” paint, the 2015 Toyota Prius Persona Special Edition is priced at $26,985.  The “Blizzard Pearl” exterior paint costs an extra $395. READ MORE

Pricing for 2015 Toyota 4Runner and Tacoma Pro Series

Two of the vehicles in the TRD Pro Series Lineup that Toyota unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show back in February will go on sale early this month.
The TRD Pro Series lineup comprises 4×4 versions of the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra.  The 4Runner and Tacoma will go on sale first in August and the Tundra will arrive at the dealerships in September.
All TRD Pro Series vehicles are equipped with TRD Pro package including TRD Bilstein shocks, TRD tuned front springs, distinct front grille with Toyota emblem, TRD floor mats, TRD shift knobs and Black alloy wheels.
Priced at $41,110, the Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro, with the front height increased by 1-inch, rides on 17-inch wheels and has a 0.25-inch thick aluminum front “TRD”-stamped skid plate.
Priced ranging from $35,525 to $37,415, the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, with 2-inch lift at the front, rides on 16-inch beadlock-style wheels and is equipped with TRD exhaust.
Pricing for the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro will be released closer to the on-sale date. READ MORE

Honda CR-V

It is the most popular SUV in the U.S. in the first half of 2014 and with that, it has become the best-selling SUV in the past decade (best-selling SUV in 7  of the past 10 years), Honda announced today, basing on Automotive News Data Center.

Also according to Honda, based on the previous year sales numbers, the Honda CR-V will likely be the best-selling SUV for 2014.
Totally redesigned in 2012, the current Honda CR-V is available in three models, LX, EX and EX-L.  All models are equipped with 5-Speed Automatic Transmission and are powered by an in-line 4 cylinder engine which produces 185 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 163 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm.
With a towing capacity of 1500 lbs., the 2014 Honda CR-V FWD has EPA mileage estimates of 23 city/31 highway/ 26 combined MPG.  The AWD models are rated at of 22 city/30 highway/ 25 combined MPG.  Along with the CR-V, Honda Accord is also U.S. most popular car in the first half of 2014.  See “Press Release” for more details and sales numbers. Scion FR-S

The long-awaited Scion FR-S RS 1.0 (Release Series 1.0) has finally arrived at dealerships with the starting price of just under $30,000

Debuted back in April at the New York International Auto Show, the FR-S RS 1.0 is the first release series of the RF-S, and it indeed doesn’t disappoint FR-S fans with the eye-catching “Yuzu” exterior paint color, the custom-designed aero kit with a rear spoiler and side fender garnish, along with various TRD parts including quad tip exhaust system, lowering springs, steering wheel and shift knob.
Other additional features include TRD logo cargo mat, black seats with T-pattern, HID headlamps with LED DRL, and smart key with push button start.
Since there are only 1,500 units produced, FR-S fans need to act fast to seize one.  There are a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT transmission.  Excluding the delivery fee of $770, the 2015 Scion FR-S RS 1.0 with a manual transmission is priced at $29,990 or $31,090 with an automatic transmission. Lexus RC 350

Lexus has released videos, specs, and more pictures of its new 2015 RC 350 family ahead of the launch date in the Fall.

Classified as a “luxury-sport coupe”, the 2015 Lexus RC 350 is available in rear-wheel drive and AWD.  Regardless of the drive configuration, the RC 350 is powered a 3.5-L V6 engine that generates 306 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 277 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm.  With the rear-wheel drive system, the 2015 Lexus RC 350 comes with the 8-speed automatic transmission, in comparison to the 6-speed automatic transmission in the RC 350 with the AWD system.
The rear-wheel drive RC 350 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds with a top track speed of 143 mph.  The RC 350 AWD has 0-60 mph acceleration of 6 seconds and top track speed of 130 mph.
Estimated fuel economy (city/hwy/combined) for the rear-wheel drive RC 350 and RC 350 AWD are 19/28/22 and 19/26/21 respectively.
Lexus also offers F SPORT variant to the RC 350, which, in addition to the special exterior design and interior features, has a better performance and handling than the regular RC 350 thanks to “ the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and the available Lexus Dynamic Handling system, which includes rear-wheel steering.”
The RC 350 rides on standard 18-inch five-spoke wheels or 19-inch wheels optional.  The F SPORT version features 19-inch 10 twin-spoke wheels. READ MORE

GS 450h

Lexus has announced the new F Sport package for the 2015 GS 450h, defying the notion that luxury and efficiency usually come at the cost of sportiness and performance.

The F Sport package gives the 2015 Lexus GS 450h a sporty look by replacing the standard 18-inch wheels with the bigger and wider 19-inch wheels (wider rear wheels).  In addition, F Sport package gives the 2015 GS 450h a distinguished look with its exclusive front bumper, front grille, rear lip spoiler and lower rear valence.
The sporty look continues to the inside with the conspicuous aluminum-trim sport driver, aluminum pedal and door scuff plates.
Performance-wise, the F Sport package includes the F Sport tuned suspension system, an additional “Sport S+” drive mode and the four-wheel steering control of the “Lexus Dynamic Handling System”.  Bigger brakes with high-friction brake pads are also added as part of the F Sport package to accommodate the better performance. Q80 Inspiration idea

More pictures and detailed specs of the Infiniti Q80 Inspiration concept have been released.  Measured 79.1 inches in width, 199.2 inches in length and 52.8 inches in height, the Q80 Inspiration has a dimension of a sedan with fastback shaping.

The interior of the Q80 Inspiration stands out with unique four individual seats, a simplified driver interface and unique HUD (head-up display).  Front passenger also has a separate HUD for displaying information via connecting to a smartphone, while rear passengers is provided with a touch screen placed in the rear of the front seat rest.
Under the hood is a powerful down-scaled 3.0-L V6 engine which combines with a hybrid electric powertrain to produce a monstrous 550 horsepower.  This engine will become a new family of engines within the next two years, according to Infiniti.

Honda announced that its 2015 CR-V has been chosen by Motor Trend as the SUV of the year for 2015, beating 18 other expensive and popular SUVs such as BMW X5, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus NX, Porsche Macan, Toyota Highlander, to name a few.

Lexus RC 350

Lexus has released videos, specs, and more pictures of its new 2015 RC 350 family ahead of the launch date in the Fall.

Classified as a “luxury-sport coupe”, the 2015 Lexus RC 350 is available in rear-wheel drive and AWD.  Regardless of the drive configuration, the RC 350 is powered a 3.5-L V6 engine that generates 306 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 277 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 rpm.  With the rear-wheel drive system, the 2015 Lexus RC 350 comes with the 8-speed automatic transmission, in comparison to the 6-speed automatic transmission in the RC 350 with the AWD system.
The rear-wheel drive RC 350 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds with a top track speed of 143 mph.  The RC 350 AWD has 0-60 mph acceleration of 6 seconds and top track speed of 130 mph.
Estimated fuel economy (city/hwy/combined) for the rear-wheel drive RC 350 and RC 350 AWD are 19/28/22 and 19/26/21 respectively.
Lexus also offers F SPORT variant to the RC 350, which, in addition to the special exterior design and interior features, has a better performance and handling than the regular RC 350 thanks to “ the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and the available Lexus Dynamic Handling system, which includes rear-wheel steering.”
